Deep Blue Sun churns out a hypnotic blend of classic funk, melodic rock and southern-fried soul, with a touch of west coast groove. Versatile, melodic songwriting, blazing leads, harmonies & a hot rhythm section meld together into a distinctive sound.
Featuring the soaring leads from guitarist Matt Lynn and keyboardist John Marsh, and the R&B vocals from bassist Ben Hernandez, DBS takes swampy funk and melodic rock and infuses it with southern soul, jazz, reggae and a little dose of improv.
Their most recent album “Live at Tree Sound” was awarded Best Live Album of the Year by Homegrown Music Network, and the band is a mainstay at great clubs and festivals throughout the southeast.
DBS was formed by Atlanta-area songwriters John Marsh (keys), Katie Moore (guitar) and indie filmmaker Steve Baird. Deeply rooted in the Southern music scene, their roots stretch back to jam-rock veterans The Grapes and Apple Peru. Today, the band continues to define the Georgia sound with contagious, dynamic original music.
